The Quarantined Mind!

Days passing by, we have no motive but to wait for the lock down to end. Today, we are talking that there used to be a time when we were rushing to work in the congested traffic, attending meetings, hanging out with friends, going out on weekends and prioritizing things has brought a new meaning for B.C i.e, Before Corona.

Life is unpredictable – well yes, the perfect example of what we have been going through the past few days. Economic crisis, Recession in jobs, deaths, cancellation of travel is what we hear all day. Each one has a different story but today we all are part of one big story COVID-19 sharing the common emotion - quarantined between four walls, social – distancing and hoping for a tomorrow. What do we call this? World War 3? A Phase?  Or a Trauma?

Everyone’s doing their part and making the use of this time. Some are bonding, some are face-timing, some are cooking, some are being creative, some are learning new courses, some are binge-watching their unfinished list of movies and series. While some are bored to death, depressed, feeling low thinking about future. It has become a routine to wake up, eat, sleep and repeat. Waking up to a negative news, increase in cases and deaths is impacting unconsciously creating a fear which we can’t do anything but facing it.

Going through mixed emotions as I am healing from a toxic state of mind is taking time. The things I’ve realized during lock down were there from the beginning but it took a disaster to understand it.
1.      Accepting situations is harder than it looks.
2.      Being positive is not as easy as forwarding whatsapp messages.
3.      Don’t just rely on your job, invest more and manage your finances.
4.      Focus on your health, it needs a lot of efforts.
5.      Develop a hobby, it relaxes your mind.
6.      Don’t spend too much time on planning future, you might not be there for it. Instead plan for today assuming as your last day.

Today, everyone is hoping to get back to their routine, meet their friends, taste their favorite food they’ve missed, waiting to do all the things they’ve planned for. When this lock down ends, we might lose something or gain something out of it. Things might slow down a bit but the biggest part is we will survive through this emotional trauma together. If we sustain this, we can get through anything that is yet to come.Being patient and hoping for the best are the only things we can do right now. Wishing you more power and strength.

                                                                                                                                                   With Love,
                                                                                                                                                  Sushmitha.
